Christy Dawn X Projecthrive
For Summer 2024, Christy Dawn partnered with Projecthrive to create a capsule collection of Bandhani styles. This collaboration employed 10 artisans and generated 90 artisan workdays. It offered vital economic opportunity and representation to artisans with little or no access to formal education. Each artisan was able to provide for their families through this work.
These artisans hand-tied the fabric into traditional motifs and then over-dyed it to create resist patterns. These artisans depend entirely on this work, with no alternate sources of income. The funds from this collaboration reached directly into their bank accounts—helping them educate their children and improve their families’ well-being. Since 2009, Projecthrive has worked with these communities to connect them with global markets.
By choosing hand tie-and-dye over machine printing, we conserved 33.56 kW of energy during the production of this collection.
The clothes you buy can change lives. When you purchase a Christy Dawn x Projecthrive piece, you directly support artisans’ livelihoods. You ensure they receive fair pay and work in safe conditions. You also help preserve generational Indigenous textile traditions that could disappear without the support of socially conscious brands.
