Sonica Sarna is proud to announce its latest ethical production and impact reporting partnership with SPELL for Summer 2025. As the ethical production partner behind this capsule collection of GOTS-certified organic cotton and hand-block printed styles. We’re honoring heritage textile traditions while simultaneously creating measurable social impact.
This collaboration employed 18 artisans across 474 workdays. As a result, it brought visibility, economic opportunity, and dignity to craftspeople with limited access to formal education. Moreover, we’re weaving cultural integrity, transparency, and human connection into every piece.

Furthermore, through the deliberate utilization of hand block printing as opposed to machine printing, we’ve saved 2298.19 kg of CO₂ emissions in the production of these garments.

Block printing, a traditional artisanal technique practiced in Bengaluru in South India, involves using wood-carved blocks to stamp patterns onto fabric one repeat at a time. In addition, each meter of fabric is printed motif by motif, by generational artisans, and takes several hours to complete. Since 2009, Sonica Sarna has been partnering with these communities through Projecthrive to connect them with brands like SPELL.
Through this collaboration by using the hand block printing technique instead of machine printing, we have saved 47.43 kW of electricity.
